FOODIE QUEST

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

I’m vacationing in Seattle now and I have a new quest!  While filling in on the morning show, I got to talk to Food Network chef, Guy Fieri.  He was in Cleveland to tape some local segments for his show Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Just listening to him talk about places like Melt in Lakewood made my mouth water!

I had to hit at least one Cleveland spot before leaving for vacation, so we went to Momocho (1835 Fulton Road in Ohio City).  Guy told us that as soon as these episodes air in the fall, you won’t be able to get in the door because people from all over the world sample his finds.  No kidding.  We chatted with the bar staff and they said Guy was terrific, very down to earth, and the place has been slammed ever since his visit was highlighted by local press.

I highly recommend hitting Happy Hour (5:00-6:30 PM) because the taquitos are half-priced and amazing!  We also ordered the guacamole sampler.  A hard decision, but we chose crab, tomato and goat cheese, and garlic and bleu cheese.

Now I’m on a foodie quest!  Just in time for my vacation, Guy visited Seattle.  So, I have my list of great diners to visit - I’ve already been to one.  Southern Kitchen (1716 6th Ave, Tacoma, WA 98405-3310) serves everything southern including catfish, collard greens, grits, and hush puppies.  Southern KitchenNow that’s some southern cooking

The place filled up fast -and for good reason!  Take a look at my Peach Cobbler.  When it arrived, they assured me it was a single serving even though it fed the table!

Now I off and eating!  Where ever Guy tells me to go, I’m there.  Luckily, my daughter is addicted to Food Network too, so she’s game.  My husband?  No problem convincing him to check out funky places.  More reviews to come!

MORNING SHOW ALL WEEK!

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

Oh boy, I’m scared!  I’m filling in for Rebecca all this week while she’s on vacation.  Now I’m starting to worry every time I see my husband make notes to himself for show topics.  I have no idea what material is fair game.  It will be as much a surprise to me as it will be for you!  But, if you hear me say, “I didn’t it mean it that way,” you’ll understand, right?
